If you are unfamiliar with the area or need equipment a local outfitter can give you advice on the proper stretch of water, shuttle your boat and provide rental equipment.
Basic New River Maps are available at the Historic 1908 Courthouse Visitor Center for $1. Or National Geographic provides a detailed map of the New River. Several vacation homes listed on our "Places to Stay" page are located on the New River. This is a great way to spend a weekend.
